Degrees and Certifications:
Gravette Upper Elementary is a great place to be a student, teacher, and for me, the counselor. This is my 8th year to serve in this capacity at the Upper Elementary.
I received my bachelor's degree in elementary education at Missouri Southern State University and proudly entered the teaching profession. While teaching, 5th and then 3rd grade, I pursued my masters in counseling from John Brown University and graduated in December of 2009. I can't imagine doing anything else with my life!
As counselor at GUE I strive to teach students emotional/social, academic, career/workplace, and character education skills that they can apply in their daily life. If you ask any students at GUE the start of this statement, "I (Mrs. Boston) want you to learn to stand....." your child will finish with "stand on my own two feet." I am a very student-focused counselor and every thing I do on a daily basis is to try to give students the skills, help, and caring that they need to make good choices in their life and to help them with any challenges they may be facing. I love when I have the opportunity to partner with parents to help lay the foundation for students to achieve their goals!
In my free time, I am busy helping my son achieve his dream of a college education and cheering my daughter on as she plays softball! I love the great outdoors, walking my dog, and running with my girls during Girls On the Run, and watching the Razorbacks!
