Bachelor of Science in English Secondary Education ELL Endorsement
Mrs. Brandy Jones
I’m Mrs. Jones, and I will be your English teacher this year. This is my eleventh year to teach, and my ninth year at Gravette High School. I’m excited to get started and get to know my students, and I hope you enjoyed your summer! My goals include preparing you to do well in not only our class this year, but also in your English classes in the years that follow. I also want to help you learn how to analyze a variety of texts, organize your writing in order to write for a multitude of purposes, and learn how to think critically about real-world topics. To do this, we will be writing multiple essays and short assignments and having some small group and whole-class discussions over the course of the year.
For the 2019 - 2020 school year, I am teaching Honors English 10, English 10, and two co-taught sections with Mrs. Brown: English 10 Co-Taught and English 9 Co-Taught. I graduated from the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith with high honors and a summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in English Secondary Education. I have earned my ESL endorsement by completing 12 Masters hours through Arkansas Tech University.
On a personal note, I am a mother to an active son. My husband and I celebrated our fourteen-year anniversary this summer. Between my responsibilities of being a mother, wife, and teacher, I do manage to find some time to read (I enjoy dystopian literature, post-apocalyptic and sci-fi novels, as well as fantasy novels), and stay caught up on my favorite shows which include "Parks and Rec," "Stranger Things," and "Doctor Who."
