Reminder to fill out the Census 2020 to help your schools and community.
Welcome our new Superintendent, Mrs. Maribel Childress. Mrs. Childress will start in July after the retirement of Dr. Richard Page.
On behalf of the Board of Education, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Maribel Childress to serve as the Gravette School District Superintendent effective July 1, 2020. The Board approved the appointment by unanimous vote on Thursday night.
The hiring of Mrs. Childress follows a search by the district that included input from the community, faculty, and staff. The board wishes to thank each for their valuable input. Childress is a strong match to those characteristics identified by the board, community, faculty and staff desired in a new leader.
Mrs.Childress has served the Springdale School District since 1996 in a variety of roles including teacher and administrator. She is presently Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum Instruction and Innovation. Mrs. Childress received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Louisiana Tech University. In 2000 at the University of Arkansas she was awarded an Arkansas Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree.
Childress demonstrates abilities as a visionary leader as well as an effective communicator. She brings a depth of knowledge and a strong commitment to the progress and development of students. These characteristics will benefit all in the district; staff, teachers, students and parents.
I hope you will join the Board in extending a warm welcome to Mrs. Maribel Childress and her family.

"The Gravette School District has approved the implementation of the Active Shooter Response System in response to safety issues facing schools across the country. The ASRS provides access to protective equipment and devices used to deter an armed intruder from entering the building and doing harm to our students and staff. The safety systems will be accessed only by trained Commissioned School Security Officers that have acquired 60 hours of security training and have ongoing background and psychological exams. CSSOs receive that training through partnerships with the Arkansas State Police and the Benton County Sheriff's Office.
Details of the implementation process have yet to be completed but are being reviewed by security and legal athorities serving Gravette School District. More information on the Active Shooter Response System may be found at ASRS.io and are designed and built by Grav I. T., LLC."
