As part of an ongoing commitment to providing a secure environment for everyone, Gravette School District will be upgrading our event entry protocols to align with modern security standards used nationwide. This update has been planned as part of our regular safety upgrades for the school year.
Beginning December 9th, at the basketball game against Life Way, we will be deploying the Opengate Weapon Detection System. Moving forward, this mobile system will be used at events to ensure safety and peace of mind for all spectators.
Much like the standard systems at airports, hospitals, and sports stadiums, these detectors are designed to identify prohibited items while keeping foot traffic moving smoothly. This is simply the next step in bringing standard, industry-grade safety measures to our school community.
The Opengate system is a state-of-the-art automatic screening device. Unlike older, traditional metal detectors that require you to empty your pockets and wait in long lines, Opengate is designed for speed and efficiency. Here is how the new entry process will look:
Keep It Moving: In most cases, you will not need to remove backpacks, purses, or bags. The system is designed to scan people and their belongings simultaneously.
Walk Through: Guests will walk through the two pillars at the entrance.
Visual Signals:
Green Light: You are clear to enter the venue immediately.
Red Light + Audio Signal: If the system detects a potential threat or a large metal object (such as certain large electronics or heavy metal tumblers), a staff member will guide you to a secondary table for a quick, non-invasive inspection of your bag or item.
Laptop/Chromebooks: If you are a student bringing a laptop, please have it ready to hand to a staff member as you walk through, just to ensure the line keeps moving efficiently.
Open Gate does not use facial recognition or collect personal data of any kind.
We understand that new procedures can take a moment to get used to. Staff will be present at the Life Way game on December 9th to help guide fans and answer any questions regarding the flow of traffic.
We appreciate your cooperation and support as we implement these small measures to enhance safety and keep the focus on our event.
