The OCH Community Event Center transformed into a gallery of student achievement as families from Glenn A. Duffy Elementary and Gravette Upper Elementary gathered for the Leader in Me Family Night. Hosted just before the fall break on November 20th, the evening offered parents and guardians a glimpse into how their children have been applying the 7 Habits to their daily lives and academic goals in this first half of the school year.
Throughout the evening, parents and children explored displays of student-created work highlighting the seven habits of leadership. The walls were lined with colorful posters and illustrations from every grade level, showing how students have learned to apply leadership principles.
Guests enjoyed a special video presentation featuring students describing the seven habits in their own words, followed by a performance of the Leader in Me song, adapted by Glenn Duffy Elementary music teacher Gabrielle Hamilton. Each table offered paper and crayons for children to sign and share their personal leadership pledges, and a photo wall gave families a place to capture memories together.
Teachers and families had the chance to connect and discuss how the habits are helping students grow in responsibility, confidence, and teamwork both at school and at home. One of the highlights of the evening was the creation of family mission statements, where families reflected on their shared purpose and values, an activity rooted in Stephen Coveyโs 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
This celebration was made possible through a collaboration between staff and leadership teams from both schools. Their thoughtful planning created an engaging environment for families to see firsthand how the Leader in Me initiative is shaping learning and character development across both schools.
Glenn A. Duffy Elementary and Gravette Upper Elementary appreciate the families who attended and contributed to an evening centered on student growth. The habits and skills highlighted during the event will continue to guide children as they build confidence, take initiative, and strengthen their approach to learning.
