THROWBACK THURSDAY 🦁 Let's jump back to 1982 together! Imagine, it's almost the end of the school year and seniors are brewing a plan on what their senior prank will be. Several ideas are up for grabs and suddenly the perfect prank dawns on them. The next morning, students and teachers at Gravette High School (which is now the Middle school) are going about their normal day...until a scream erupts. Everyone rushes to the bathrooms to find CATFISH in the toilets 🎣 Thankfully, the principal at that time, James Reiner, took the prank like a champ! Thank you to Gravette School District's very own, Richard Carver, for providing this week's Throwback and giving us a good laugh 🤣
SCHOOLS OUT 🎉 We are SO proud of everything our students have accomplished and can't wait to see y'all next year! Have a GREAT summer, Lions 🦁 #experiencethepride

THROWBACK THURSDAY. Continuing on from last week's post - fast forward to 1931. Gravette School District is starting to grow more and more! With this growth, two trucks were purchased from Cato Chevrolet and L.A. Baugh. They were altered so that they could start transporting children! Although we do not know Gravette’s first bus driver from that time, we do know that in 1938 Gravette hired Homer Fansler to drive a bus to bring pupils from west of Gravette to school! And two years after that hired Haskell Jackson and E. M. Berry to drive two new 45-passenger school buses. Below are pics of what the buses might have looked like back then 🚍
OVER 56 runners in grades 6-12th completed the Gravette Running Time Trial yesterday at the track! 👟 These are the athletes that took up the call and are interested in running cross country this upcoming fall! This group will join the legacy of Gravette HS Girls being ranked #1 in class 4A and Gravette HS Boys being ranked #10. We can’t wait for this amazing group to show us what they’ve got this season! 🏃♂️

THROWBACK THURSDAY. As graduation is right around the corner, let’s look back on Gravette’s first graduating class in 1908! The first school in the area which is now Gravette was the John Wesley Cromwell School, it began in 1878. Fast forward to 1898, the school was moved to the Covey-Kindley addition where a new brick building was erected in 1900 (pictured below). This was located in the area of the City Library and Civic Center. The first-ever graduating class was in 1908 with only 3 graduates (names pictured below). The principal at that time was W. A. Hunt. Now, fast forward to the graduating class of 2022 and we have 124 seniors! 🎓 HUGE thank you to the Gravette Historical Museum for partnering with us and providing us with Gravette’s rich history 🧡
Does your child love to sing? 🎤 Sign them up for the UofA Choir Day Camp! They are accepting 2nd - 12th grade students. Details are down below!

New segment alert ❗ Throwback Thursdays - where we throw it back to Gravette Schools and the history it's been through. To start us off, we have a picture from Wayne King - #32. This was from the 94'-95' football season. Gravette was facing off against their main rivals Gentry! 👊The coaches at that time were Charlie Phillips, Duke Mobley, and Michael McClure. Wayne has a son, Jason King, who currently plays for the Gravette Lions football team. 🦁 Way to pass on that LION PRIDE Wayne! If you have any old photos, stories, or memories surrounding Gravette schools, WE WANT THEM. Please send all photos to facebook@gravetteschools.net. Have the subject line be "Throwback Thursdays". We can't WAIT to showcase the history of our schools and all who have been through its halls. 🧡 #experiencethepride
