The big turnout was partially in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds, who are both retiring this year. The teaching power couple has worked together at Gravette Middle School for decades, and the gathering was just one way to celebrate them. But then again, who wouldn't want to be out on the water on such a sunny and breezy spring afternoon? There was a historic milestone for Mrs. Reynolds, though. Despite being married to the fishing club sponsor himself, she had never caught a fish in her life until today.
Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds, for your decades of service to our district. Together, they have spent their careers teaching generations of Lions the joy of mathematics, literacy, and a relaxing afternoon on the water. 🦁🧡 #LionPride #GravetteSchools

Thank you for adjusting your parking plans to give our students the space they need to explore new professions. 🦁🧡 #LionPride #GravetteSchools

🍎 Today was the first day of Teacher Appreciation Week, a chance to recognize the people who help create a better future. Administrators, staff, PTO members, and students spent the day sharing their gratitude through notes, treats, and shared stories.
Teaching is one of the few professions where emotional labor is just as taxing as the intellectual demands. Much of a teacher's hardest work happens out of sight. The hours spent worrying about a student’s well-being at home, the midnight sessions spent tailoring a lesson to reach one specific child who is struggling, and the constant mental load of managing the social dynamics of a classroom.
Gravette teachers form deep connections with our kids every year, helping them grow before they move on to the next grade level. To do that every single year—to give your heart to a group, let them go, and then open up again for the next class without becoming cynical—requires a level of emotional resilience that is rare. All of this happens alongside the demands of curriculum, state accountability, and the constant looming of the next assessment cycle. It takes immense resourcefulness and grit to withstand that, time and time again.
Teacher Appreciation Week is just one way that we can let the educators in our lives know that their energy is not poured into a void; it creates flourishing for everyone. Education is the cornerstone for a better world and teachers help build it every day. Thank you, Gravette teachers, for your investment in this profession, in our students, and in our community. Yours is the work that makes everything else possible. 🦁🧡 #LionPride #GravetteSchools
P.S. Throughout the week, we will share the stories of our Teachers of the Year from across the district. For our staff, selecting just one professional from each building was a challenge because we have so many outstanding educators. Their stories are a small glimpse into just a few of the classrooms where success is created. We look forward to sharing those accomplishments.

📅 Date: Monday, May 4, 2026
⏰ Time: 5:30 PM
📍 Location: Gravette High School Commons
Coaches will share practice schedules and team expectations to help everyone plan for the months ahead. Go Lions! 🦁🧡 #LionPride #GravetteSchools

The club celebrated its 40th Annual Youth Excellence Awards by partnering with schools across Benton County to highlight students who reach their goals while overcoming difficult circumstances. Parker has demonstrated a high level of achievement, persevering through personal adversity while maintaining a top GPA and high test scores. She was also recently honored with the Jim Lindsey Leadership Award, which you can read about here: https://www.gravetteschools.net/article/2817025.
We are excited to see Parker take these leadership skills to the University of Central Arkansas as she begins her journey toward a medical career, inspired by the doctors who helped her overcome a major surgery. Her story of determination and service reminds us all what individuals can achieve when they choose to invest in others. 🦁🧡 #LionPride #GravetteSchools

The Artemis II mission, which recently completed its historic journey, is significant because it's the last test flight before a scheduled manned mission on the surface in 2027. This upcoming Artemis III mission will place a crew of astronauts on the moon's south pole for a few weeks, where they will be locating, extracting, and bringing home lunar water ice. Scientists believe this ice could be a vital resource for a future moon base, providing H2O water for drinking, oxygen for breathable air, and even hydrogen rocket fuel for travel deeper into space.
We want to thank Library Media Specialist April Jones and our staff for inspiring our children to learn about the wonders of space exploration. Their work encourages our students to dream big and think about the future of discovery. 🦁🧡 #LionPride #GravetteSchools

Sculptures lined the tables and booths while student artwork covered the walls from floor to ceiling. The displays represented a full year of effort and practice by students across all four schools. High school volunteers in themed uniforms handed out popcorn and balloon animals. Others drew portraits for children at a old-timey portrait station while two student volunteers dressed as a Gravette lion and a circus performer executed stunts for the crowd.
It was a great turnout that provided important recognition for our student artists. Athletes and musicians frequently perform or compete throughout the year. This annual art show gives visual artists their own opportunity to share their progress with the community.
Thank you to the art teachers and staff who collaborated for months to organize this event. Thank you to Ozark Community Hospital for providing the space, to Skylight Cinema in Bentonville for donating the popcorn, and to the adult volunteers who kept the event running smoothly (and the floors clear of popcorn kernels). We also appreciate the high school volunteers who ran the activities. But most of all, thank you to the student artists who prepared their work for everyone to see! 🦁🧡 #LionPride #GravetteSchools

The cast and live musicians have worked for weeks to master the complex dialogue of this play, bringing it to the stage as a high energy jukebox musical featuring songs from the Panic! At The Disco album "Pretty. Odd." Behind the scenes, the student crew has poured their creativity into building a detailed and fantastical set that turns the stage into an immersive magical forest.
See a world where reality and dreams blur together, following a chaotic group of amateur actors attempting to put on a play, two sets of lovers tangled in a magical web, and the feuding fairy royalty pulling the strings behind it all. It is a vibrant tale of jealousy and comedy woven together by a team giving their absolute best to create an unforgettable experience for the community. Grab your tickets at the door and join us this weekend to see the magic for yourself! 🦁🧡 #LionPride #GravetteSchools

Just over two months ago, the class received a batch of tiny embryonic eggs and took on the responsibility of ensuring their survival. Daily tasks included feeding, maintaining filtration systems, and monitoring water quality. As the project progressed, students observed the trout develop through several distinct life stages, culminating with the release yesterday.
The trip gave students a break from the classroom and a chance to see the river for themselves. Spring had just returned to the Ozarks, with fresh leaves on the trees and clear water moving below the dam. Along the way, they made the drive through the hills and stopped at the visitor center to learn how Beaver Dam shapes the river system. It was an afternoon of fresh air, clear water, and time spent in the great outdoors. 🦁🧡 #LionPride #GravetteSchools

Designated staff members are trained to use these tools to respond quickly in an emergency. These new supplies strengthens our secure environments for every child and ensures staff can take immediate action if a serious injury occurs.

Library Media Specialist Brittany Gripe had been guiding the class tracking a real bill from the previous general session. Applying this knowledge, students are now drafting their own original bills. Representative Duke visited to answer questions and explain her direct experience in government. This was a first-hand experience applying classroom lessons with a state representative and gave these students a practical understanding of civic responsibility.
Thank you to Representative Duke for taking the time to speak with our class and encourage local civic engagement. A special thank you to Mrs. Gripe for organizing this visit and sharing these photos with us. 🦁🧡 #LionPride #GravetteSchools
