Day 2 of Homecoming Spirit Week: Parent Trap - Twin Day! 🦁

Don't forget! Tomorrow starts our dress-up days for Homecoming week! 🦁

Sometimes you just need a mid-day nap! 💤 And it's a bonus that Tilly (our therapy dog) can be right there with you. ☺

Next week is Homecoming for our high school and GDE/GUE wanted to join in on the fun! 🎉 Please note that the dress-up days for the elementary schools slightly differ from the high school. You can see the HS dress up days on the HS Facebook page.

Yesterday's weather kept our kids indoors, but that didn't stop them from having a blast anyways!

Remember last week when our Pre-K students were learning about apples? Well, this week they learned what happens when apples are cooked and then mashed! 🤤 Homemade applesauce hits the spot every time!

Did you know today is Dysgraphia Awareness Day? And you might be thinking, "I don't even know what that is". Dysgraphia is a specific learning disability that makes it difficult to express yourself in writing, and is actually pretty common! Here are two resources to learn more and get help: https://livingtruer.com & https://www.dysgraphia.life.

This week, Mrs. Hunter's Pre-K class spent their time learning all about apples! ☺

Don't forget! THIS Thursday is Picture Day 📷

Mark your calendars! 🍂 GDE's Fall Festival will be November 3rd from 5-7pm and our PTO needs YOUR help!

Just a friendly reminder ❗ Our students are NOT allowed to walk, ride their bike, or scooter to school without a parent PHYSICALLY being with them for both drop-off & pick-up. This is to keep all students safe. If you are a part of "Walker's Club", it is REQUIRED to park at the GMS volleyball parking lot. The exceptions are families who live within a mile of the school and staff members who work in other buildings. Please make sure you are following this traffic map! Pick-up and drop-off have gotten SO much better, but will only continue to work if we all follow instructions. Thank you for understanding ☺

Yesterday, Mrs. Pruitt's class focused on their reading skills! Mrs. Pruitt showed the class two types of reading. Slow and controlled versus fast and frantic. With a thumbs up or down, students would show Mrs. Pruitt which type of reading was the correct one. By including different forms of learning (visual, auditory, & physical) our students are engaged on all levels! Plus, learning about penguins is always a blast 🐧

Today, we honor the bravery, sacrifice, and unity of those who responded to the call of duty and the innocent souls lost. We will never forget.
