Ten Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) Members helped with the Flu Clinic held on Oct. 17th! ๐ฉบ๐ District wide there were over 200 influenza immunizations given. Our nurses and the health department greatly appreciated these students, who assisted in holding the younger students, completed paperwork, handed out suckers and transported kids to and from the classroom. Thanks for volunteering! And thanks to everyone who got their vaccines for doing your part to reduce the spread of deadly viruses ๐ฆ ๐ก๏ธ

Last week students had the option between doing an essay or a presentation to recognize National Mole Day, the celebration over the unit of measurement known as the "mole." They also had a 3rd option to do a craft project designing a mole mascot... To much shock and surprise, most kids chose the craft. ๐
โ๏ธ National Mole Day was started in the 1980s by chemistry teachers across the nation.
One mole is equal to 6.022x10^23 particles, in the same way saying 1 dozen =12 things. A number as large as the โmoleโ is helpful when working with extremely small things like atoms and molecules. ๐ฌ
The National Mole Day celebration and related projects have been happening at Gravette High School for over 20 years. Chemistry Teacher Brittany Lovell shared that a lot of students will have their grandmas or other family members help with the project.
Chemistry students at GHS are getting ready to start using the mole to help find amounts of substances such as reactants and products in a chemical reaction during the 2nd and 3rd quarter. This project is a fun little โkick-offโ event for a topic that can be a little challenging.
