In honor of homecoming next week, let's show our Lion PRIDE by making a Spirit Chain ๐ The GDE PTO will be selling orange and black paper chain links starting Monday the 17th through Thursday the 20th (cut off at 3:30pm). These paper chains will hang on the fence at the Homecoming football game! If you are unable to print off the picture below, simply write on a piece paper your child's name, teacher, # of links wanted, $ sent and place paper and money in an envelope named "Homecoming Spirit Chain".

Thank you Alaina Carlton for the cute window art at GDE! ๐ As Alaina was painting away, a kindergartner came up behind her and said "Hey, who gave you permission to write on the walls!" Custodian Brian had a good time explaining that one ๐ Our lions always keep us on our toes!


Congratulations to our GDE Student of the Week! 2nd-grader, Lylah Youngblood, is our winner. Mrs. Jones said, "Lylah is polite, respectful, and eager to help her peers. No matter the place, she is always demonstrating qualities of a great leader. In the hall, Lylah can be found walking with a purpose and careful not to disturb others. When Lylah is in the library she listens attentively, raises her hand before speaking, and always stays on task. This week Lylah wanted a specific book during library checkout. Today, Mrs. Rutledgeโs class studied 3D shapes and made them using toothpicks and marshmallows. Learning is SO fun...and yummy ๐

Last week, Coach Pittman's P.E classes were learning all about Speed Stacking aka Cup Stacking! These activities help promote eye-hand coordination and ambidexterity. Our Lions were using both sides of their brains and bodies! Nice work, GDE! ๐
