๐Ÿงญ Gravette Upper Elementary hosted its very first leadership camp just before the Thanksgiving break. This event gave students the opportunity to build high-trust teams and collaborate with one another on shared goals.

Young Lion leaders jumped into team-building activities, enjoyed a movie and pizza together, and wrapped up the afternoon by decorating the school for Christmas. This camp was a wonderful community service project that allowed students to give back to their peers.

It was a memorable day full of growth, laughter, and leadership in action. We are grateful to everyone who helped make this experience happen for our students. ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿงก #LionPride #GravetteSchools

โœ๏ธ Take a look at the precision and focus of Gravette Upper Elementary's top ten handwriters. These students have mastered the art of penmanship, with exceptional work that stand out for its clarity and detail.

Even in a digital world, handwriting is a vital skill. It connects the hand and brain in a unique way that reinforces memory, fine motor skills, and discipline. There is a distinct sense of personal pride that comes from presenting ideas clearly and beautifully on the page.

Thank you to Dr. Mandi Barrett for capturing this moment of academic excellence. These students are proving that quality work never goes out of style! ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿงก #LionPride #GravetteSchools

โœจ Gravette Upper Elementary students are using their lunch break to build academic skills. Upon finishing their meals, 3rd through 5th graders are opting into multiplication practice or cursive handwriting challenges.

This voluntary practice turns free time into focused learning. These young Lions are choosing extra math drills and penmanship exercises, demonstrating a clear ownership of their own progress.

Thank you to Dr. Barrett for sharing this look into the daily dedication in our cafeteria. ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿงก #LionPride #GravetteSchools

This performance is the result of months of hard work from much of the same ambitious, student-led team that created last spring's "Alice" production, along with freshmen learning the ropes. This team is ready to show our community what they can do next.

You have two opportunities to see this show, one tomorrow night and one on Sunday afternoon! Let's pack the house to support our talented GHS performers. ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿงก #LionPride #GravetteSchools

๐ŸŽ—๏ธ GUE finished up an exciting week of student led learning focused on drug and bullying prevention. Students designed activities to help facilitate powerful conversations around the topics and ended the week focused on the power of partnerships by hosting the Bentonville Police Department in a Red Ribbon assembly.

A special thank you to our partners from the Bentonville PD for making this assembly possible including Corporal Sayer Smith, SWAT and K9 Rock, Detective Quincy Hansen, Bomb Squad and his Boston Dynamics Robot dog, and Corporal Ryan Simmons and K9 Valor

๐ŸŽ—๏ธ The Gravette Upper Elementary lion is participating in Red Ribbon Week. Our mascot is helping students celebrate this week's commitment to a healthy, drug-free life.

Today, Wednesday, our lion and students are wearing boots or Western-themed clothing to "Give drugs the boot." We are excited to see everyone participate in the themes for the rest of the week. Tomorrow, Thursday, is "Peace out to drugs" (Decades Day). The week will wrap up on Friday with "Lei off drugs" (Hawaiian Day).

We hope to see our entire school to show support for making positive choices! ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿงก #LionPride #GravetteSchools

๐ŸŽฏ Gravette Upper Elementary students recently competed in a Lexia Challenge to see who could complete the most units in our literacy program. The top two classes from each grade earned a fun reward: getting to throw water balloons at Officer Josh and Officer Thomas! (And as for why you're seeing so many cowboy hats.. it was all part of Homecoming dress-up week!)

Congratulations to the winning classes:
๐Ÿ† 3rd Grade: Mrs. Briggs & Mrs. Roach
๐Ÿ† 4th Grade: Mrs. Hirsch & Mr. Moots
๐Ÿ† 5th Grade: Mrs. Carreira & Mrs. Riggs

Lexia is a program our students use on their Chromebooks to build foundational reading skills, one small, focused "unit" at a time. This friendly competition was a great way to motivate our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders to apply consistent effort to their daily literacy work.

This was an entertaining way to celebrate the hard work our students have been putting into their reading goals. We are grateful to our School Resource Officers for being such great sports and helping to encourage children to reach new heights in their education with fun activities like this. A special thank you to Mrs. Pitts for sharing this story and photos! ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿงก #LionPride #GravetteSchools

๐ŸšŒ During National School Bus Safety Week (Oct 20-24) the Gravette School District Transportation Department, challenged children to think about bus safety and show what they learned. Part of this exercised involved a School Bus Safety Coloring Contest for all K-5 students at Glenn A. Duffy Elementary and Gravette Upper Elementary. Our very own Gravette bus drivers even served as the judges!

Winners:
๐ŸšŒ Bellamy (Kindergarten)
๐ŸšŒ Gwen (1st Grade)
๐ŸšŒ Lynnlee (2nd Grade)
๐ŸšŒ Gavin (3rd Grade)
๐ŸšŒ Noah (4th Grade)
๐ŸšŒ Daisy (5th Grade)

Student safety is a shared responsibility. The Gravette School District is grateful for the ongoing partnership with our students, families, and community to reaffirm our shared commitment to the well being of our kids. We urge motorists to be alert, slow down near school zones, and watch for children at bus stops.

Our students should all be well aware that they are expected to wait off the roadway, stay out of the "danger zone" (10 feet around the bus), and always wait for the driver's signal before moving to board or cross the street.

Thank you to all community drivers for helping to keep our students safe. ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿงก #LionPride #GravetteSchools
