🎨✨ Gravette Upper Elementary students have been hard at work, creating art they can’t wait to share at the District Art Show this coming Thursday! Each piece reflects their creativity, effort, and fledgling experimentation for self-expression. Students have spent months learning about famous artists, color theory, and technique, discovering their own ways to make their artwork unique. Mrs. Knuckles has worked with every class to share her knowledge and passion for the arts, and our kids are ready for their time to shine! The Gravette Schools Art Show will be their moment! Come celebrate the talent of GUE artists on Thursday, March 13, from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Event Center @ Ozark Community Hospital. Let’s show these young artists how much their work matters! Check out the event on Facebook with this link: https://www.facebook.com/events/3038709192954217 🖼️ See you there! #LionPride 🧡

We had such a great time at our March Assembly today! The festivities kicked off with a celebration of students who embodied February’s Habit of the Month: Synergy! Because when we work together, we go further. March’s Habit of the Month was revealed to be: Sharpen the Saw. It's a reminder to take care of ourselves, find balance, and keep growing! Then, we counted up the Pop Top Drop totals from last month, and wow our students CAN crush it when it comes to collecting pop tabs! ♻️👏 🥉 3rd Grade: 11,551 🥈 4th Grade: 20,001 🥇 5th Grade: 28,352 We also welcomed our Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) to the stage! These great dads will be at our schools in their yellow shirts, helping out and making a positive impact. To top it all off, the students who earned the most Lexia units got a sweet reward: pieing teachers in the face! 🥧😂 Shoutout to Mr. McVay, Mrs. Taylor, and Mrs. Boyd for being such great sports! What a way to start the month! Keep up the hard work, Lions! 🧡🦁 #LionPride

This week, the School Board and Mr. Gravette joined students and staff at Gravette Upper Elementary for a special breakfast highlighting student leadership. While district leaders enjoyed a nutritious breakfast from the GUE cafeteria, the student Lighthouse Team debuted a video inviting Glenn Duffy Elementary students to form their own Lighthouse Team, sharing what leadership looks like at GUE and how they apply the 8 Habits in their school. After breakfast, board members toured fifth-grade classrooms to see leadership in action. In Mrs. Riggs’ class, students shared details about their toy drive for Arkansas Children’s Hospital. In Mrs. Renner’s class, students presented leadership projects, including the launch of new student-led clubs such as a Sports Club and a Newspaper Club. The Newspaper Club even distributed copies of their latest issue for board members and students to read. The board then visited Mrs. Hamilton’s class, where students showcased their pop tab donation collection and explained the logistics and impact of their efforts. Other students displayed posters they designed to encourage donations from across the district. The tour continued into Ms. Carreira’s and Mrs. Taylor’s classrooms, where students proudly shared their leadership projects and learning experiences. Throughout the morning, board members talked to many students, seeing firsthand how leadership is embedded in daily activities at GUE. Students were excited to share their leadership projects and experiences with the school board, gaining confidence in their abilities and seeing that their voices, ideas, and efforts are valued by district leaders. This opportunity also gave them a chance to reflect on what they’ve learned and accomplished, reinforcing the impact of their hard work and the importance of leadership in their school community. A sincere thank you to the Gravette School Board for taking time from their busy schedules to engage with our students, witness leadership in action, and support the incredible work happening in our schools. Your involvement makes a meaningful impact on our students and staff!

This is the week of Bus Driver Appreciation Day. Even though the snow kept us away from school, we’re especially grateful for our bus drivers who always put student safety first! Through every season, they work hard to ensure a smooth ride and a warm welcome for our students and families. Let’s take a moment to thank our bus drivers for their kindness, patience, and commitment to our kids. If you see your driver on Monday, give them a big thank you and a smile! Our drivers are the ones we see every day, but behind every safe and smooth bus route, there’s a team working hard to make it happen! A huge shoutout goes to Mr. Richard Carver, our Transportation & Facilities Director, and Mrs. Melissa White, our Transportation & Facilities Administrative Assistant, for all they do to keep our buses running and our students safe. Their hard work, planning, and care make a difference every day! Our schools need more bus drivers! If you or someone you know is interested in joining our team, check out the job posting here: https://www.gravetteschools.net/drive #BusDriverAppreciationDay #LionPride

Check out February's 🏅Leaders of the Month🏅 Caiden, Niah, Meadow, Hermoine, and Emma were recognized with an award and a gift certificate to Sonic! They were nominated by their classmates for demonstrating the Habit of the Month for January: "Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood". This habit emphasizes the importance of listening with empathy before expressing your own viewpoint. We are so proud of these students for leading by example and showing what it means to build meaningful connections through understanding and respect. Keep up the great work, leaders! 🧡🦁 #LionPride

Next week (February 3-7), students will be decorating Valentine’s bags during their art class in preparation for their Valentine’s Day party. 🎨 Optional: You may send a shoebox (or a smaller box) for your student to decorate instead of using a provided sack. 👉 If your student does not bring a box to their art time, they will decorate a sack instead. 👉 If they don’t finish decorating their box during class, they’ll need to complete it at home.
