Senior Sunday Spotlight 🎓 #nwtisecondarycareercenter #seniorsunday

Thank you to the 11 million+ construction industry workers who contribute to the development of America’s infrastructure and facilities! Thank you to our construction teacher, Mr. Rudy Whiteside, who has over 50 years of experience in the game! Thank you to the high school students who have chosen to further their careers in this respectable trade and come to class each and every day ready to learn 👷♂️ #nwtisecondarycareercenter #thankyou

Head on over to our Facebook page to see ZJ welding live! You can find all our content at Western Benton County Career Center. You won't regret it!

Although it isn't Sunday, we just couldn't wait! In partnership with NWTI Secondary Career Center, we are starting a new segment where we highlight our incredibly talented Seniors. These posts will normally go up on Sundays at 2pm so be on the lookout. Our first Senior Sunday Spotlight is getting shined on BHS Senior, ZJ Carpenter. Her future is looking bright! #nwtisecondarycareercenter #seniorsunday

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Mr. Terry Whiteside! Mr. Simpson and their students surprised Terry with a birthday cake AND a new denim shirt. It's the little things in life that make Mr. Terry happy 💙 #nwtisecondarycareercenter

This semester our construction class has 6 students! A few are already in the shop working and others are wrapping up their OSHA 10. Keep up the hard work! #experiencethededication

Our automotive classes are figuring out their t-shirt design for the year! President Evan held it up for the class as everyone took a vote. Comments like "well I'm not much of a Chevy man myself" and "I'll wear whatever. Those are pretty sick drawings" were getting yelled out. Ultimately, this design (front and back) got a green light from the majority ✅

Pea Ridge Student, Brady Snoderly, used the oxy-acetylene torch to cut pipe yesterday! And although it may look like he forgot his safety glasses (on the brim of his hat), he does in fact have another pair on! It is very important to our instructors that our students know the proper safety techniques now so that when they get out into the workforce it is second nature. Keep up the great work, Brady! #experiencethededication

Annual Automotive beginning of school car pics ✌ AM Class. We are still in the process of getting the PM classes pics edited - we'll post em' once their done!

Before our welding students stepped into the shop again, Mr. Whiteside did his best impression of Alex Trebek and they brushed up on some important safety tips while playing a game of Jeopardy!

Remember this friendly face? 🙂 BHS Alumni, Ian McDaniels, came back to visit with Mr. Simpson and Mr. Whiteside earlier this week! Ian said, "Looking back now, I appreciate all that the NWTI Secondary Career Center/WBCCC welding class taught me. It allowed me to have real expectations of what a welding shop would be like in the workforce." Ian is currently working for Simmons as a Maintenance Mechanic and making around $27 an hour. Whether our students graduate and go straight into the workforce like Ian or graduate and go to the collegiate level, we encourage students to be open to ALL options! There are SO MANY paths to success ✅ #experiencethededication

It's that time of year again! Do you want to help our automotive high school students but don't know how? Try donating that car that has been sitting in your yard for years! Check out the graphic below for details!

We've been keeping you all on your toes...and we finally have the results back from BHS student, Caleb Cannon, trip to Nationals! Caleb, Mr. Willaby, and Mr. Simpson traveled to Atlanta this summer so Caleb could compete against the best of the best automotive techs in the Nation. Caleb placed 35th nationally and that IS SOMETHING TO CELEBRATE 🥳 WAY TO GO, CALEB! We are SO proud of you! Just imagine what our students will bring to the table this year. 👀 We could have multiple national champs in our mist...just sayin'. Let's go! #experiencethededication

It's been a GREAT year here at the Career Center! Thank you to all our stakeholders who came and spoke to our students, sponsored in-house events, and the community for showing so much love on every post! We can't WAIT to see what next year has in store. *In case anyone is wondering about Caleb (our student going to Nationals), we will post once we have news!*

Our construction shop is lookin' good! It went from an empty room to having storage lockers, work tables, and two mini-houses framed out. All built by our students! Although this course is only a semester long, each student gets to work on building up the shop and leaving a little piece of their legacy behind. 🔨

BIG UPDATE ❗ As you all know, BHS Junior, Caleb Cannon, came in 2nd place (automotive) at the SkillsUSA competition. In a turn of events, the 1st place winner can longer go to nationals therefore CALEB TAKES THAT SPOT AND IS GOING TO NATIONALS IN ATLANTA this summer 🥳 But, he does need to raise quite a bit of money before then (plane, hotel, food, etc). Our teachers have decided to help Caleb out and if you attend NWTI's 3rd Annual Trades comp. next Saturday, they will have a drinks stand and all proceeds will go to Caleb's trip! If feel further inclined to help, please reach out to Mr. Willaby at rwillaby@nwti.edu.

Senior, Dillon, is the FIRST welding student to earn a dual certification. Year 1: Mig Welding and Year 2: Stick Welding. In the entire class, there were ten students who passed the Mig welding and three on Tig welding. Congratulations welders! 💥

Senior, Rowan, is feeling pretty good about his root pass today. His smile says it all! #experiencethededication

We got the placements for our other students who attended the SkillsUSA comp. earlier this month! ALL of our students crushed it. SO proud of y'all! #experiencethededication

Parker said, "I decided to take construction because I want to be able to do anything. Everything now-a-days is so expensive and if I can do my own labor - that's money in my pocket. I've learned a lot so far." #experiencethededication
