Due to increased concern of incoming weather Gravette School District will begin releasing car riders at 1:00 and bus riders to follow at 1:15. 🎺 Toot Your Horn Tuesday! This day brings two special recognitions, Teacher Appreciation Week and National Nurses Day, and we’re taking a moment to celebrate pillars of our school community who serve our students every day. Rebecca Ortiz (1st Grade), Stormy Pruitt (2nd Grade) and Angie Denver (2nd Grade) lead their classrooms with consistency, warmth, and a deep sense of purpose. Their work helps students grow with confidence and joy! Wendy Catron, our school nurse, is steady and compassionate. On National Nurses Day, we thank her and nurses everywhere for the care they bring to every setting, every day. Our cafeteria team, led by Alicia Frischman with Terri Penn baking behind the scenes, starts early and serves with pride. Their work keeps students fueled, focused, and ready for the day ahead. 🗣️ May is National Speech-Language-Hearing Month, where we recognize the essential role our Speech-Language Pathologists play in supporting student growth. Thank you to Ms. Julie Hooks, Mrs. Lisa McKee, Mrs. Jordan Bradford, and SLPA Mrs. Lauren Hawbaker for making sure every student is heard. SLPs help students strengthen communication skills by assessing needs, guiding progress, and addressing speech and language challenges that affect learning and relationships. SLPs play a vital role in helping students thrive by assessing, diagnosing, and supporting those with communication challenges. Their work is in the background but crucial, often shaping how students connect with the world around them. WEATHER UPDATE: This morning we implemented our tornado safety protocol in each building. We sincerely appreciate all staff and students who made this go as smoothly as possible. Everyone was safe and our campus was unharmed. Unfortunately, like many in our area, Gravette High School is without electricity. We hope to have an update soon on restoration efforts. A big thanks to all of our utility workers and first responders as they work through the rain to resolve these issues. We plan to have regular pickup times and bus routes this afternoon. Please contact your child's school if you have to change transportation arrangements for today.

📚 Razorbook Reach visited Glenn Duffy Elementary this week with a special gift for young readers: free books! Handpicked by the students themselves! Founded by University of Arkansas students Matthew Brownshadel and Gravette’s own Max Bassler, Razorbook Reach promotes childhood literacy by helping children build their own home libraries. With more than 5,000 books collected through recent drives, their first-ever distribution events kicked off right here in Gravette. Each student chose three books to keep, with support from visiting Razorback student-athletes. Leading the effort was Mia Bassler, a Gravette graduate proud to return home as the organization’s Social Media Manager. This is what it looks like when literacy leads the way. 🌎 Glenn A. Duffy Elementary had fun Earth Day activities yesterday thanks to The Environmental Club from Gravette High School. This student-led event featured hands-on learning stations, each designed and led by club members with a focus on sustainability and environmental awareness. Founded in 2020–2021, the Environmental Club has grown into a year-round force for change. They run the GHS recycling program, which has diverted over 1,800 pounds of materials this year, and organize outreach efforts like this. The Environmental Club began planning the Earth Day event back in December. They said the most rewarding part was connecting with younger students and seeing their excitement grow. These driven young women and men aren't just working toward a sustainable future, they are building habits of responsibility and leadership and modeling that for younger kids. 🐣 Builders Club members from Gravette Middle School helped make Easter extra special for our youngest Lions at Glenn Duffy Elementary. Students in Builders Club donated all the eggs and prizes for the kindergarten egg hunt, over 1,800 in total! They helped prepare more than 2,500 additional eggs for Pre-K using family donations. Funds raised through school dances helped support this project and others throughout the year. On Easter, members hid the eggs, cheered on our young students, and helped them count their finds.
