🏈 Our kids made the news last night! KNWA featured the 2025 Gravette Youth Football Camp, where students entering grades 2–6 are working alongside high school athletes to build football fundamentals and teamwork.

This year’s registration fee was a canned or non-perishable food item. These donations will be given to the 58:10 Food Pantry. We're proud of our Lions for giving back and putting in the work this summer on the field and in the community.

This short appointment helps our Kindergarten teachers get to know your child and prepare for a smooth first day.

📚 Glenn A. Duffy Elementary's little Lions are getting an expanded library selection thanks to a $5,000 grant from the Laura Bush Foundation for America’s Libraries! With this grant, our library will further develop a refreshed chapter book collection. Currently, fictional chapter books make up just 11% of the library’s offerings. While classic stories remain important, there is a need for relevant and age-appropriate titles that better meet the interests of students. Students and teachers will even get to provide their wish lists to help with the curation of new books. Behind this grant award was months of research and planning by Library Media Specialist April Jones, who closely reviewed circulation data and collection trends to better align the library with student needs. Her work is exemplary of the precision and care our staff bring to every part of the student experience. This was April’s first-ever grant application, and it was a winner! 🖼️ Second grade gave Dr. Newsom an art piece covered in their thumbprints, a cute personal gift from young lions who will be moving on to Gravette Upper Elementary next year. This wraps up both the school year and Dr. Newsom’s first year leading Glenn A. Duffy Elementary. She’s brought calm leadership, kindness, and a strong connection to our students and staff. Due to increased concern of incoming weather Gravette School District will begin releasing car riders at 1:00 and bus riders to follow at 1:15. Please contact your child's school or teacher if you need to make alternative transportation plans. 21 C and Bella Vista Boys and Girls Club will be closed this afternoon.

🎺 Toot Your Horn Tuesday! This day brings two special recognitions, Teacher Appreciation Week and National Nurses Day, and we’re taking a moment to celebrate pillars of our school community who serve our students every day. Rebecca Ortiz (1st Grade), Stormy Pruitt (2nd Grade) and Angie Denver (2nd Grade) lead their classrooms with consistency, warmth, and a deep sense of purpose. Their work helps students grow with confidence and joy! Wendy Catron, our school nurse, is steady and compassionate. On National Nurses Day, we thank her and nurses everywhere for the care they bring to every setting, every day. Our cafeteria team, led by Alicia Frischman with Terri Penn baking behind the scenes, starts early and serves with pride. Their work keeps students fueled, focused, and ready for the day ahead. 🗣️ May is National Speech-Language-Hearing Month, where we recognize the essential role our Speech-Language Pathologists play in supporting student growth. Thank you to Ms. Julie Hooks, Mrs. Lisa McKee, Mrs. Jordan Bradford, and SLPA Mrs. Lauren Hawbaker for making sure every student is heard. SLPs help students strengthen communication skills by assessing needs, guiding progress, and addressing speech and language challenges that affect learning and relationships. SLPs play a vital role in helping students thrive by assessing, diagnosing, and supporting those with communication challenges. Their work is in the background but crucial, often shaping how students connect with the world around them. WEATHER UPDATE: This morning we implemented our tornado safety protocol in each building. We sincerely appreciate all staff and students who made this go as smoothly as possible. Everyone was safe and our campus was unharmed. Unfortunately, like many in our area, Gravette High School is without electricity. We hope to have an update soon on restoration efforts. A big thanks to all of our utility workers and first responders as they work through the rain to resolve these issues. We plan to have regular pickup times and bus routes this afternoon. Please contact your child's school if you have to change transportation arrangements for today.
