English classes of Mrs. Bassing and Mrs. Morgan partnered with the Billy V. Hall Senior Center in Gravette for the second year running to spread a little holiday cheer! Our Juniors have been busy over the past week handwriting Christmas letters and creating ornaments for elderly Gravette residents and family. About 130 letters were sent in hopes of brightening the holiday season of loved ones and community members! These Lions are making a meaningful difference in the lives of others this holiday season.
Thank you to Mrs. Bassing, Mrs. Morgan, and the Billy V. Hall Senior Center for giving our students the opportunity to share joy and the true spirit of giving. Way to go, GHS Juniors! 🎄✨

Today, we join other schools and communities across the nation in celebrating National Inclusion and Special Education Day, a day dedicated to embracing and honoring the diversity that makes each of us unique.
Inclusion is more than just a word—it's a mindset and a commitment to creating environments where everyone feels respected, valued, and empowered. In schools, inclusion is vital because it ensures that every student, regardless of their background, or abilities, has the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Here’s why inclusion is so important in schools:
1) Fosters Empathy and Understanding: When we learn and grow alongside peers from diverse backgrounds, we develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for different perspectives. --
2) Builds Stronger Communities: Inclusive classrooms and schools promote unity and teach us that we are stronger when we work together. --
3) Empowers Everyone to Succeed: When students feel included, they are more confident, engaged, and motivated to reach their full potential. --
4) Prepares Us for the Future: In an increasingly global and diverse world, learning to collaborate and respect differences is a skill that benefits everyone. -
Today, let’s recommit to being kind, supportive, and inclusive. Whether it’s reaching out to someone new, standing up against exclusion, or simply being a good listener, every action counts. Together, we can make our school a place where everyone belongs, because All means All.
You may see our schools' educators wearing our inclusion day shirts, "Y'all means All" . We hope to embrace that as we move our students forward in the inclusive environments we are all striving to help create in Gravette schools.
Warm regards,
Tyler A. Matlock, Ed.S
Director of Special Education
Gravette School District

Gravette Upper Elementary had the chance to travel to the high school and enjoy the play from Gravette High School's Theatre Program! For many of these young audience members, it was their very first experience with live theater. Mr. Galloway opened the presentation by telling the kids the High School Drama class chose to perform "Rhubarb Jam" specifically because Elementary students would enjoy the colorful, high-energy play.
Not only did they get to enjoy a fantastic show, but they also saw what’s possible for them in the future as part of our school’s theater program. It was a wonderful way for younger students to connect with their older peers and be inspired by the dedication and talent on stage. Thank you to our high school actors and crew for sharing the magic of theater with these bright young minds! #LionPride

Gravette High School held the annual Veterans Day Assembly this year with an impressive ceremony. WoodmenLife presented the flag as Military Personnel, Veterans, and First Responders stood to be recognized for their service to our country and community. Sgt. Robert Huff from our local Marine office spoke to students, followed by a presentation by Sal Gonzalez, an Iraq war veteran of the Wounded Warrior Project. Thank you to our guests and staff for making this day of recognition for Veterans meaningful.

The Student of the Week for November 11, 2024 is Kevin Aguilar-Magana. Mrs Bassing says that he is a joy to have in class. He diligently applies himself and contributes insightful questions. It's truly encouraging for teachers to witness students engaging thoughtfully with the material. Great work, Kevin!

On Veterans Day we recognize the remarkable men and women who have served their country. From those on the front lines to those providing critical support behind the scenes, every service member forms a network of strength, skills, and resilience that keeps our armed forces operating and defending us all. Today, we express our gratitude for every veteran, in every role, who has contributed to safeguarding our freedom and well-being. Thank you for your service.
"On Veterans Day we honor all,
Who answered to a service call.
Soldiers young, and soldiers old,
Fought for freedom, brave and bold.
Some have lived, while others died,
And all of them deserve our pride. "
- “Veterans Day” by Cheryl Dyson

🏅 Incredible finishes for Gravette Cross Country at the 2024 Arkansas State Championships! 🏅
Our Lions gave it their all on the course in Hot Springs! Both teams fought hard against the best in the state, with the Boys team finishing as 4A State Runner-Up, missing the championship by just 1 point! The Girls team secured a fantastic 3rd Place finish as they aimed for a 3-peat.
Big shout-out to Paxon Chernota, Cutter Franks, Litzy Garcia, and Kiera Ralph for placing in the top ten and bringing home individual medals! We’re so proud of the grit, determination, and sportsmanship shown by all our runners.
Special thanks to Coach Weller for his dedication and leadership this season—our teams couldn't have achieved this success without him! #LionPride

Ten Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) Members helped with the Flu Clinic held on Oct. 17th! 🩺💉 District wide there were over 200 influenza immunizations given. Our nurses and the health department greatly appreciated these students, who assisted in holding the younger students, completed paperwork, handed out suckers and transported kids to and from the classroom. Thanks for volunteering! And thanks to everyone who got their vaccines for doing your part to reduce the spread of deadly viruses 🦠🛡️
