🛌 Gravette High School kicked off Homecoming Week with Blue Ribbon Monday - Pajama Day! Students and staff showed their school spirit with everything from cozy flannel to creative bedtime looks.
Today’s dress-up day winners are Elise Graham and Mrs. Hilger! 🐟 Outdoor Pursuits students from Gravette High School put their casting practice to work during a fishing trip to Lake Bentonville last week. With beautiful weather and plenty of catches, students found how their outdoor classroom lessons transfer into real-world skills.
Coach Pittman's Outdoor Pursuits course is an education in survival, recreation, and environmental stewardship, and trips to Benton County parks like Lake Bentonville is a big draw for Gravette students. At this park in particular, students can practice fishing for bass, catfish, and bluegill while exploring Osage Park, a regional hub for conservation and outdoor recreation.
Special thanks to our community partners and Gravette Schools administration for supporting these experiences. Outdoor Pursuits is just one way our students are prepared for life beyond the classroom. 🦁🧡 #LionPride #GravetteSchools

🏈 Before kickoff Friday night, the Gravette Lions honored sophomore teammate Harrison Whitley with a framed jersey presentation that included his #33 jersey, Lion emblems, and a team photo of the 2024 Junior High Conference Champions.
Harrison’s battle with Ewing Sarcoma began when what seemed like a football injury turned out to be something far more serious. Since then, he has faced surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation with the same determination he brings to the field.

Outdoor Pursuits equips students with real-life outdoor skills. This program connects students to the natural resources that surround our community by teaching them practical skills such as fishing, fire-building, plant identification, survival basics, and much more. Living on the edge of hundreds of miles of forest and farmland, these skills prepare students to explore safely, act responsibly, and enjoy the outdoors for life. 🦁🧡 #LionPride #GravetteSchools

🧠 Today, middle and high school students heard from Tony Hoffman, former professional BMX rider, former Olympic competitor, and one of the nation’s leading speakers on mental health and substance abuse prevention.
Tony has shared his story with audiences across the country for more than a decade, helping young people understand the link between mental health, personal choices, and long-term success. He spent years battling anxiety, depression, and substance abuse, eventually serving time in prison. While incarcerated, he committed to rebuilding his life through discipline and small daily habits. That commitment carried him into a professional BMX career, where he competed at the highest levels and later coached at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
In Gravette, Tony spoke openly about the traps of negative belief systems, the importance of supportive friendships and trusted adults, and how discipline is like a muscle that grows stronger when you use it. He reminded students how the little things like making your bed, brushing your teeth, even picking up the ice cube that falls on the floor-are practice for the bigger challenges in life.
After his talk, students joined in a Q&A, asking about his BMX and Olympic experiences, his favorite sports, and his family. The room lit up when he shared his love for sushi, but controversy erupted when he claimed In-and-Out was superior to Whataburger. He also shared a love for dogs and more about his relationship with his father and his step-son.
